Vietnam was one of the longest wars fought by the US Marine Corps. More Marines were deployed in Vietnam than in World War II. By the end of the war, 13,091 Marines had been killed and 51,392 had been wounded. Fifty-seven Medals of Honor were awarded to Marines for exemplary courage during the Vietnam War.
